During the last six weeks I have been working at Arc (Arts for Recovery in the Community) in Stockport undertaking a project with adults. Working on the theme of natural forms and insects we have explored lots of different textile, collage and printing techniques including monoprinting, applique and papermaking. The brief was to enable participants to produce work that could be exhibited or commercially developed for sale at the open days at Arc.
I worked last week at Ellenbrook Community Primary School in Worsley for a day with Year four. As part of Book Art Week we were depicting the street from the book 'The Krindlekrax' by Philip Ridley that has a huge crocodile living beneath it. The children worked hard using oil pastels and ink on watercolour paper to create the beautifully observed terraced houses and street before creating the characters during the rest of the week.
